Arsene Wenger involved in tunnel bust-up

Arsene Wenger was involved in an angry tunnel bust-up with Southampton boss Ronald Koeman.

Gunners boss Wenger confronted referee Lee Mason and fourth official Craig Pawson and accused him of missing a string of decisions as Arsenal suffered a serious setback in the title race.

Wenger said: “It’s always the same with you.”

But Koeman then saw the exchange and confronted Wenger before replying: “It’s always the same with you.”

Koeman added: “You had 10 chances to score and couldn't take any of them so why have a go at them?”

Arsenal have now gone four games without a win in the Premier League, they have drawn a blank in their last three games and missed a host of chances against Southampton.

Wenger said: “It’s maximum frustrating. You rate the quality of the chances you create and the quality of the finishing.

“The quality of the chances we created today, considering it’s a Premier League game, was high. The quality of the finishing was poor. That differential explains the 0-0.”

It is believed that Koeman was annoyed after believing Wenger had complained at the officials on the touchline during Arsenal’s heavy defeat at Southampton on Boxing Day.

Wenger was angry after watching his team slip five points behind leaders Leicester as they suffered a fourth game without a win.

The Gunners dominated possession, just over a month after their 4-0 humiliation on the south coast.

But they found Fraser Forster and his defence in obdurate mood, as the Gunners became the only side in the top six not to win on Tuesday night.
