Uganda’s talisman and former Gor Mahia top scorer Dan Sserunkuma has vowed to become a Bandari hero after sealing an 18-month contract with the club on Sunday.

“I am at Bandari to continue the good work I have done so far in Kenyan football. Am very excited to start my 2016 season at the club,” said Sserunkuma.

He said expectations from Bandari fans are high and vowed to keep them entertained as well as scoring goals.

“I would like to help Bandari win several titles this year and I am happy they have considered me as one of their new players. Bandari is a big club in Kenyan football and winning the GoTv shield is a testimony and I will do the best to give back victories to my new club,” said the Ugandan national team striker.

Sserunkuma was free after he left Armerian side Ulisess on allegations of non-payment of allowances, which had gone for four months. The club is reported to be facing financial constraints and failed to keep its end of the contractual agreement with him, forcing him to return home.

Club’s Media Liaison Officer Ernest Mbalanya said there is a lot of excitement about what Sserunkuma can deliver.

“Sserunkuma is a well-known player to Banadri fans, having played for Gor Mahia and they (fans) are looking forward to have him start training with the club later this week,” said Mbalanya.

Bandari’s Technical Director Edward Oduor said the club has closed its transfer business and set eyes on both Caf Confederation Cup and the local team.

At the same time, the cub has put pen to paper with Harambee Stars forward and former Algerian outfit MC Alger Edwin Lavatsa.

Coach Twahir Muhiddin in an interview said Lavatsa has been training with Bandari since they resumed training last week and has impressed him.
“I can authoritatively confirm Lavatsa has affixed his signature as a Bandari player and he is among the six new players including Sserunkuma at the team,” said Muhiddin.
Other new players at the team are former Sofapaka striker Felly Mulumba, Chemelil’s Meshack Karani, Edwin Wafula and Bernard Mangoli both from AFC Leopards.
The dockers start their Caf Club Cup match against St Lupopo away in Congo on February 13 before they return to start their Sportpesa Premier League with a match against City Stars at Nyayo Stadium on February 17.
