David De Gea has been left out of Manchester United's 18-man travelling squad to play Club Brugge on Wednesday evening.
Speculation continues to surround the Spaniard, as talk of a move to Real Madrid gathers pace.
It is the fifth time he has been omitted from the Red Devils' matchday squad this season, with Louis van Gaal suggesting he isn't in the right frame of mind to pull on the jersey.
De Gea has reportedly made no secret of his desire to move back to his home city, with only one year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford.
With only one week until the transfer deadline, his future is still very much in limbo, and looks set to go down to the wire.
Last year's player of the year has watched on as Argentine keeper Sergio Romero has deputised so far this season.
He has kept three clean sheets from three games in the Premier League, conceding only a Michael Carrick own goal in the first leg against Brugge last week.
United could still move for a new stopper if they are to lose De Gea, although that looks unlikely to be Ajax's Jasper Cillessen, who has ruled out a move to the Premier League.
"As far as I know it has never been a thing," he told NOS. "I, the club, or my agent have never heard anything. As for me, this season begins and ends at Ajax."
