MediHeal Hospital Chairman, Dr Swarrup Mishra, has revealed that a personal call from Deputy President William Ruto led him to stop taking alcohol.

“Ruto personally advised me against taking alcohol. He told me that for us to be close, I had to give up drinking and since he is my friend who wishes me well, I complied.” Mishra revealed that alcohol had brought poverty to his family.

“My mother in India is very proud of me. My wife and children are happy I quit drinking,” he said, adding that, “My mother has vowed to pray without fail for Ruto to continue being a great leader, and to live a lengthy and prosperous life.”

Mishra says he gets home by 7.30pm to be with his wife and children, and has DP Ruto to thank as this would never have happened if he was still addicted to the bottle.

“In the past, I would order rounds for patrons at whatever club or joint I got in. I was a darling of many, a serial alcohol spendthrift. People would sing my praises,” he adds with a chuckle.

Mishra, popularly known as ‘Kiprop,’ plans to vie for the Kesses parliamentary seat in Uasin Gishu County on a Jubilee Party ticket.
