Trans Nzoia Governor tells MPs to keep off county projects

Trans Nzoia County Governor Patrick Khaemba

Trans Nzoia County Governor Patrick Khaemba has told MPs David Lazaro (Saboti) and Dr. Chris Wamalwa (Kiminini) to keep off development projects initiated by his administration.

The Governor accused the two lawmakers of undermining his leadership and inciting the public against him ahead of the 2017 polls.

The County Chief termed the corruption allegations and accusations as baseless criticism by the MPs and challenged them to produce evidence.

"These MPs should stop the culture of throwing stones at me on baseless grounds that my administration is corrupt and I challenge them to come up with evidence to  implicate me on any scandal," said the Governor when he inspected the multi-million modern bus stage in Kitale.

He said it is unfair and unhealthy for the MPs to fight him and incite the public against the county administration for their selfish political reasons.

Urging the residents to ignore the political incitement from the lawmakers, the Governor vowed to continue with his commitment to service delivery for the people.

"Don't listen to political propaganda. Let us join hands to develop the county and this will help us address economic challenges many of us are facing," he urged.

Khaemba said the county has achieved some of the development goals and singled out the County referral and teaching hospital and the bus Stage.

"The noise from the MPs will not stop me from taking development to the people. I know some leaders are not happy with the development progress," he added.

Contacted for comment, Dr Wamalwa and Lazaro insisted that the vice at county government has denied the public effective services and asked the Governor to account for every single penny disbursed to the County.

"We are not fighting the governor but putting him on toes as representatives of the people. We are not to sit and watch as individuals pocket money supposed to help the public," Lazaro responded.

Last weekend, Dr Wamalwa accused Khaemba of being the master of corruption and vowed to ensure he accounts for funds allocated to the county.

The attacks elicited commotions at the burial of Ford Kenya official Abel Makokha and it took the intervention of Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula to restore calm as supporters of Khaemba and Dr Wamalwa clashed.
