Boy commits suicide after quarrel over Sh150

A 10-year-old boy committed suicide after his mother quarreled him for spending her Sh150 on a movie.

The mother had sent the boy to buy sugar, but instead he bought himself a movie.

On returning home, the mother asked him for the money but he couldn’t explain himself, prompting her to shout at him.

According to Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome, the boy hanged himself using a rope in the sitting room, in their Savanhah Estate home.

“We are told the boy hanged himself due to what the parents believe was fear of being beaten for spending money he had been given to buy foodstuff on a movie,” said Mr Koome.

Koome said police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.

In Kariobangi South, the body of a 31-year-old man was found rotting in his room. Police found a poison bottle in the room, making them believe the man might have committed suicide.

The body was discovered by the man’s brother. He said he went to the brother’s house and found the door locked. He knocked on the door for a while, but there was no response. He said he grew suspicious after he was met with a foul smell on arrival.

 BAR ARGUMENT

Koome said police were investigating to establish if indeed the deceased committed suicide, and the motive behind it.

In Umoja, a man was stabbed to death in a bar following an argument with a friend.

The assailant is said to have been having a drink with the man before he turned on him with a knife after a brief argument.

He ran away after the incident that happened on Wednesday night. Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect.

And police are looking for a gang that shot and wounded two men in a robbery incident in Kasarani on Monday night.

The victims were found lying on the roadside minutes after they had been shot at close range near Hunters estate.

The injured men, aged 24 and 23, were rushed to hospital in serious condition where they are admitted with wounds in the abdomen
