A student at Moi University succumbs to death during abortion

Abortion is not a crime. I know many won’t perceive that. Okay abortion is more than a crime, it’s a sin. This comes as a day or so ago in Moi university campus when a lady passed on during abortion. What a misfortune, unsuccessful abortion. Before I spit anything else “May her soul rest in eternal peace”. This is really frustrating. A lady who has been in school for a long time, parents investments; who have spent on her a lot since kindergarten only to die desperately when pursuing her degree.

Anyway, that one is not a point of discussion let us try to analyze and evaluate critically why she did so. First and foremost is pressure from the parents. Most parents today are so harsh and wont stomach any cases of early pregnancy. But let us take a look at this perspective. This is a lady in campus; she is over 18 years of age, an adult but living in fear of her parents. Okay parents I know you have a role to ensure their complacency and indiscipline is condoned. But what are the after effects of being harsh? I’m sure if parents are friendly the ladies will give birth then life continues as normal.

Secondly, the gentlemen are also responsible. Why? In most cases the gentlemen disown their children leaving the ladies desperate and the children fatherless, something ladies hate. Guys, it is so shameful to do such a mistake. A graduate in a few years doing that; what will that guy back at home who has never seen the roof of a classroom do?

This brings me to another point. I hate formal education. Back in the traditional African society such cases were rare; the moral standards were high. There was restricted intermingling of the male and female and if it was a must they were under strict supervision from the elders. For instance, in my community, any youth found to have indulged in sex before marriage could be put in a hole dug at the center of an anthill while necked. At the end of the day they could be excommunicated from the community. The society today is encouraging moral degradation. They have gone up to legalizing laws that allow relatives to commit that sin. Anyway what can we do? Globalization has done this.

Lastly, ladies abort in order to remain what they call it fresh. Why then were you indulging in that activity when you knew that you were not ready to become a parent? Hate me or love me for the truth; I just beg the government of Kenya to crack down those hooligans.
