Teachers: Arrest Education CS Jacob Kaimenyi if pay hike is not effected

Teachers want Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi to be held in contempt of court if he fails to effect the Supreme Court's decision to uphold their salary increase.

Led by Embu Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers Chairman Anthony Kinyua, the teachers vowed to go on strike if the pay rise is not implemented in this month's salary. Mr Kinyua praised the ruling and said teachers were jubilant.

"Teachers will not report to work until their dues are paid in full. The Government will be declared a blind, insensitive and hostile employer if it fails to implement the ruling," he said, adding teachers will be expecting the Director of Public Prosecutions to arrest education officials who fail to implement the ruling.
