Uwezo fund develops digital monitoring software

KISUMU, KENYA: Uwezo Fund is developing a digital management system software to improve the monitoring and assessment of its funding and projects across the country.
The software will see all the 51, 000 youth and women groups benefiting from the fund connected in one system, where fund managers will be able to supervise the operations within the groups to ensure their efficiency.
The fund CEO Wilfred Buyema said the system will also facilitate the recovery of the fund so as to ensure its continuity.
Speaking during the launch of a four day training of fund committee members from 162 constituencies in Coast, Eastern, Central and North Eastern regions at Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu, Mr Buyema said there was need to come up with a system which would reduce time used to evaluate the operations of the fund beneficiaries.
The committee members will be expected to get back to their constituencies and train the youth and women groups benefiting from the fund in making viable entrepreneurship decisions.
"This is a revolving fund and proper monitoring and evaluation strategies must be put in place if we have to succeed in making the fund benefit everybody. There are still so many youth groups which applied for the fund but since we did not have enough," said Buyema.
