Rufftone's big day

News

1. Rufftone stayed up late till 3am on the eve of his wedding recording a song for his bride. He later presented it to her on their wedding day during the reception at the Boma.

2. Their wedding cake was a blend of vanilla chocolate and orange flavours from Larimar bakers and its design was Rufftone’s idea. It cost Sh80,000 and weighed 27kg.

3. Still on the cake, the 20kg centrepiece was a representation of Rome, the city of love while the grand pianos that were the 7kg side cakes with Smith and Susan’s name on them signified their musical careers. The sheet music on the piano had the words Mungu Baba Twaomba written on them, words from one of Rufftone’s hit songs.

4. Artiste Jaguar did not honour his invite to the wedding. However other celebrities including Wahu and husband Nameless, Esther Wahome, Ruth Matete, Danco, Bahati, Ole Willy and Kevin Muley of Mo Sound Events were in attendance. Dr Ofweneke was the MC.

5. The groomsmen grey suits were one of a kind custom made suits from Rufftone’s clothing line Ruffwear. They were made by designer Mike Oduor who is also responsible for designing his Kenya @50 outfit.

6. The bridesmaids’ dresses were designed and tailored by Wambui Mukenyi.

7. Still on the dresses, Wambui took one day to design, tailor and correct all the bridesmaids’ dresses.

8. “...If anyone here has any objections to this marriage, speak now or forever hold your peace...” Reverend Walter Nyangweso who was officiating the ceremony declined to utter this objection clause to the congregation and instead said that anyone with an objection needed to be prayed for.

9. The entire ceremony took a week of planning. However, the bride cautioned anyone who has not planned their wedding against taking this risk.

10. The wedding ceremony that was to begin at 10am started soon after 1pm. We later came to find out that the makeup artiste was the reason behind the late coming.

11. Daddy Owen was part of the men in suits and Harry G, the best man. Kenzo was not spotted at the wedding.

12. The previous wedding postponement was due to the fact that Daddy Owen had a commitment that needed to be addressed prior to the wedding. Additionally, Rufftone and his then fiancée needed full participation of family in their wedding.

13. Were it not for the postponement of a project he was to start working on, he would be halfway across the world and would still not be married. Thank God for golden opportunities.

14. Food prepared was in fine dining version consisting two buffets; for the high table and the invited guests. The array of foods included mousses, platters, salads, fruits, cakes, bread sticks, condiments, drinks and cheeses, only to mention a few.

15. Ruth Matete performed Nakupenda and Bahati performed Mama at the wedding with the lovable Bahati winning the hearts of most at the event.

16. The wedding cake cutting was officiated by Esther Wahome and was so much that the guests carried home huge packed pieces.

17. The bridesmaids were changed a week to the wedding.

18. Rufftone performed Tsinyanga Twsiere at the church service to which the crowd danced and sang along to.

19. While still in the service, Jimmy Gait made a chilling comment saying he had met Krystal before Rufftone.

20. The bride confessed to having planned her wedding a couple of times before and she knew exactly what she wanted, why she wanted it and where she would get it from.
