OPINION: Microsoft Windows 10, is it worth downloading?

Microsoft claims Windows 10 is the most advanced operating system it's ever built - but critics say it's merely an apology for the flaws of its unpopular predecessor.

Microsoft's Windows 10 could break the internet, if the rapturous reception is anything to go by.

Windows 8 (Microsoft skipped number nine) bombed, so the pressure is really on to get this new version right.

Microsoft claims Windows 10 is the most advanced operating system it's ever built - but critics say it's merely an apology for the flaws of its unpopular predecessor.

The must-have software offers a range of cool additions, including a new internet browser called Edge and the desktop arrival of Microsoft’s voice assistant, Cortana.

Edge lets you “draw” comments and notes on web pages before sharing them. Cortana learns your tastes and delivers web content you’ll like.

If you have an urgent deadline, it’s probably not the time to upgrade because there’s no telling whether everything will go smoothly.

But this is a major update for PC owners, well worth downloading.

I’d give it 8 out of 10.
