Jambojet flights from Mombasa delayed

NAIROBI, KENYA: Passengers traveling on Jambojet flights out of Mombasa were held up at the Moi International airport (MIA) on Sunday for several hours.

A taxi operator, Ronald Omambia who had taken a client to the airport said that he was made to wait from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm before his client finally called him to inform him that he had finally boarded.

''Passengers kept on complaining that they were unable to board flights in time and left on their own without explanation from airline officials at the airport. This does not paint a good picture on Jambojet whom we expect to have their operations above board,'' Omambia told The Standard.

Another passenger who sought anonymity said that Jambojet had been experiencing flight delays since Saturday.

''There were many passengers who had booked flights but ended up cancelling and sought alternative flights to Nairobi after the disappointment by Jambojet,'' he said.

Jambojet Marketing Manager Parul Big when reached on telephone said that there were a combination of factors that led to delays .

She admitted last evening that the firm was working on solutions and were in consultation with the national carrier, Kenya Airways to break the flight stalemate.

''We are working on solutions and hope to get things fixed. We however do apologise for inconveniences caused to our dedicated passengers,'' she said.
