Late politician Njenga Karume's resort re-opens after two-year closure

Jacaranda Hotels Group, associated with the late politician Njenga Karume, has announced plans to re-open its Coast-based Indian Ocean Beach Resort and Spa by the end of this month.

The resort was closed in 2012 for renovations.

Making the announcement, the group's Chief Executive Officer Killian Lugwe said they were optimistic of a major rebound into the fortunes of the struggling tourism industry.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of the ongoing 35th edition of the World Travel Market (WTM) tourism trade fair in London yesterday.

"As a hotel chain, we shall be celebrating our 50th anniversary on December 4, and we have deemed it fit to re-open the resort just in time to coincide with the anniversary celebrations," said Mr Lugwe.

He said the refurbished facility has new colour schemes depicting Swahili architectural designs.
