Under one roof

“The Monday opening of Nakumatt Shujaa is now set and we are excited to be registering our presence in the Donholm/Komarock/Kayole area,” Shah said. “By opening our second store around Eastlands, we are also keeping our standing promise to expand our network presence to meet growing customer demands,” he added.

At the new Nakumatt Shujaa, Shah, said the store will be retaining more than 100 new employees further pushing the retailer’s staff count to more than 7,300 staffers across the East Africa region. The fully fledged Nakumatt Shujaa store will also feature a selection of electronics, hardware, toys and clothing sections all under one roof to complement its location.

By opening Nakumatt Shujaa, the retailer is maintaining a bullish expansion run across the region with plans for the opening of its 52nd branch in Bamburi, Mombasa now in high gear. This also comes hot in the heels of the recent opening of three stores by the retailer in Tanzania, following the acquisition of the former Shoprite Tanzania stores in Dar es Salaam and Arusha.

Having started its supermarket operations in 1992 with its pioneer Nakumatt Mega store located along Nairobi’s Uhuru Highway opposite Nyayo Stadium, the retailer has been enjoying steady growth for the last 20 years.

Across the region, Nakumatt has been at the forefront in the promotion of regional retail trade integration and currently operates eight branches in Uganda, four in Tanzania and two in Rwanda alongside its 37 Kenya stores. Alongside the store openings, Nakumatt is also actively enhancing its private brands (Nakumatt Select and Nakumatt Blue Label).
