Does true love still exist?

To Love and be loved is just awesome, love drives people into doing the most unthinkable staffs in the world. I remember while in high school, one of my Kiswahili teachers gave us a demonstration of what real love was, with the long story behind it, he ended by saying this, “even the mightier once, bow under the heavy weight of love." 

I never fully agreed with him at the time, but experience after my high school made me share in his lines of thought, love is a virus that does not discriminate. To date I still don't understand this, why love a person if you can't be with them?  Why see a person and when you are just about to make the positive advancement, you realize that it was never meant to be and you just have to let go?   Words of the famous love poem let go.
