Coast region will not vote for Jubilee in 2017 elections, says Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has maintained that Coast region is a CORD stronghold despite the wave of resignations by Opposition hotshots.

The governor yesterday said the region would not be swayed to vote for Jubilee in 2017 as it had been isolated by the Government.

Mr Kingi criticised CORD rebels who include Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro, saying they were misleading people by trying to convince them to vote for Jubilee in 2017.

Addressing residents of Kaya Fungo in Kaloleni constituency on Tuesday, Kingi said the six Coast "rebel" MPs were dancing to the tune of Jubilee to serve their own selfish interests.

"What amazes me is seeing some politicians from the Coast proclaiming that they will rally residents behind Jubilee despite the marginalisation that the region has endured over the years," he said.

The governor, who was accompanied by Kaloleni MP Gunga Mwinga, said the region would rally against President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid next year.
