Harambee Stars beat Uganda Cranes in CECAFA duel

After the stressful journey to Cape Verde on Tuesday where Kenya was bundled out of 2018 World Cup qualifiers, Harambee Stars are on with the national duty and this time, playing in the ongoing regional Senior Challenge Cup in Ethiopia - CECAFA.

Quite a good start in the tournament as the defending champions Harambee Stars beat Uganda Cranes 2-0 in what was viewed to be the toughest challenged for Kenya in the group stage.

In a match Kenyan side enjoyed much of possession in the opening half, striker Jacob Keli opened the score sheet with a well taken finish after he was set through from the midfielder on the 28th minute.

Both sides missed golden chances and pressure from Uganda side was fruitful as the half time whistle went with Harambee Stars leading 1-0.

With just four minutes into second half, Gor Mahia striker Michael Olunga who came on as a substitute doubled the lead with a cool tap in in from Cliffton Miheso’s cut back cross.

Uganda side pressed hard but a balanced encounter it looked like as time elapsed. They should have got a goal or two but they were too wasteful with the few chances they created.

2-0 it ended with Harambee stars pulling a surprised on the Ugandans.
