I'm not to blame for youth who hung from my chopper, says politician

A politician has denied claims that a number of young men sustained injuries after jumping off his chopper as it left the ground.

The video of the incident was shared online creating an Internet buzz. Caleb Hamisi from Trans-Nzoia County, who was on board the chopper has blamed political detractors for his woes. Hamisi told The Nairobian that the incident has been over hyped by people who are envious of his rising popularity in the constituency.

“I was shocked to watch on TV three days after I held my meetings in the constituency that some five men had been hurt after they fell off from the chopper at Chetoto Primary School near Kipsongo slums. I can authoritatively say that nobody was injured, otherwise I would have been informed,” said Hamisi. “If anyone was injured, then they should be arrested for putting their lives in danger through hanging on an airborne chopper,” he said. Trans Nzoia County Police Commandant Lilian Okembo refused to comment on the issue saying she not been adequately briefed.
