Police issue fresh road closure updates ahead of Obama tour

The Kenyan police Thursday issued fresh road closure update to enable Kenyans plan their weekend and avoid disruptions likely to be occasioned by US President Barack Obama:

Road from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), through Mombasa Road, Uhuru Highway, Chiromo Road and Westlands Roundabout will be closed Friday between 3pm and 10pm and no unauthorised vehicles will be allowed.

Vehicles from Westlands to CBD will use Ringroad, James Gichuru and Parklands. Those from CBD to Westlands to use Muranga Road, Ring Road and James Gichuru.

Saturday: No access of Westlands from CBD from University Way roundabout. Those headed for Westlands to use Muranga Road and Parklands or Ringroad. Forest Road, Limuru Road and UN Road to be closed all day.

Nairobi Traffic commander Edward Mwamburi said that Haileselassie Avenue, Tom Mboya, Moi Avenu, Harambee Avenue and Landhies Roadwill be closed from 11am to 3pm on Saturday and no access to Railways bus stop.

From 3pm to 11pm no access to Kenyatta Avenue, State House and Between University Way and Westlands.

Sunday. No access to Thika Road up to Ruiru from 9am to 4pm.
