MP leads public to raid illicit brew dens

Ndia Member of Parliament Stephen Ngari and other senior government officials yesterday led area residents in a raid of beer dens and their outlets in a bid to fight illicit brew menace.

The concerted efforts of the local community saw the recovering of an assortment of the illicit stuff and cannabis sativa (bhang) valued at more than Sh1 million at Kagio Market .

"You can imagine drug traffickers and illicit brew retailers have become innovative that the stuff is sold in plastic bags as take away," he lamented.

The legislator later led irate members of public in destroying the brews and bhang stores at the nearby Kagio Police Station accompanied by the Kirinyaga West OCPD Gasper Makau.

As Ngari was busy in his area, so was his Gichugu counterpart Njogu Barua who led a similar operation.
