COTU finally apologises over Labour Day glitch

The Central Organisation for Trade Unions (COTU) has apologised to organisations and corporates that were not able to showcase their floats before the President during Labour Day celebrations.

In a statement to The Standard, COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli attributed this to time constraints. He urged the affected organisations to, however, turn up in large numbers in next year's celebrations.

Mr Atwoli also set the record straight on who is the union's longest serving Secretary General.

"For the record, the longest serving COTU Secretary General remains to be the late Joseph Jolly Mugalla who served the organisation for three consecutive terms and eight months and this record remains unbroken," he said.

In his address during Labour Day celebrations, Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero alleged that Atwoli is the longest serving COTU Secretary General.
