Kenya Breweries Ltd (KBL) has brought life to Siradumb village in Ugunja Sub-County by kicking off a Sh7.2 million water project to be completed in the next six weeks.

Over 39,000 residents will have access to clean, safe and affordable water when the beer company drills a borehole that will serve a radius of three kilometres.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony at Sirandumb village over the weekend, KBL Managing Director Joe Muganda said the residents will start benefiting immediately as all the funds for the project are intact.

He added that the the company has done similar projects in other parts of the country, in the spirit of giving back to the community.

"Most of our target areas are often characterised by poor services, poor infrastructure, severe food insecurity, deteriorating livelihoods and highly depleting natural resources," Mr Muganda said.

The MD said they have reached over two million Kenyans through programme dubbed "Water for Life".

Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi asked the residents to respect the project and manage it well.
