Five outstanding things that happened in the Mayweather vs Pacquiao superfight

Floyd Mayweather claimed bragging rights with a points decision victory over rival Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas.

The Money Man ran out a 118-110, 116-112 and 116-112 winner over the Filipino at the MGM Grand.

Mayweather stretched his unblemished record to 48 fights to bag a chunk of the Sh28.4 billion ($300m) purse.

The 38-year-old barely broke sweat as Pacquiao struggled to make a dent on the American fighter.

1. Mayweather's negative tactics

Pacquiao was on the front foot but he struggled to land many punches on Mayweather.

The American was happy to soak up the pressure and pick the Filipino off when he could.

However, the Money Man's tactics didn't go down well with fight fans.

QPR captain Joey Barton was among those to criticise his approach.

He tweeted: "Said you are greatest of all time this week. Better than Ali. At what? Running away? Spoiling up close? Horrible to watch. Boring."

2. Floyd wins the style stakes

Pacquiao's ring walk was low key and the Filipino was overshadowed by the Money Man.

Mayweather waltzed in with pop star Justin Bieber by his side. But it was his attire that set tongues wagging.

Floyd wore a white, black and gold jacket that matched his shorts, along with a 'Mayweather Promotions' snapback.

His rival entered the fray in a simple white t-shirt, and unfortunately it wasn't just the fashion contest the Filipino lost.

3. Star studded affair

The stars flocked to Las Vegas for what was billed as the 'richest fight in history'.

Jay Z and Beyonce were among those in attendance as Mayweather edged out his rival on points.

Rapper Lil Wayne, Christina Milian, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Mary J Blige were other megastars from the music world in attendance.

NFL quarterback Tom Brady and Michael Jordan led the list of big sporting names, while former tennis star Andre Agassi was ringside with his wife Steffi.

4. Jamie Foxx belts out anthem

Jamie Foxx put in an emotional performance as he sang the American national anthem ahead of Mayweather and Pacquiao's fight of the century.

While the 47-year-old star's rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner seemed to be appreciated by the crowd at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, it didn't have quite the same effect on Twitter.

Several took to the social networking site to slam his performance, with some offering up some boxing references to poke fun at the Hollywood actor.

5. Fans made to wait as US pay-per-view services crash

Mayweather's showdown with Pacquiao was delayed by around 45 minutes.

The fighters were due to take centre stage around 4am UK time, but the ring-walk was put back.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the hold up was due to subscription networks in the US being overloaded in what is the biggest pay-per-view event in the sport's history.

However, some of them were left disappointed as DirecTV viewers encountered problems.

The network, which serves the entire US, posted a notice warning viewers the fight may not be available for up to 14 days.

This is believed to have had a knock-on effect to events in Las Vegas as TV chiefs tried frantically to resolve the problems.
