Kabarak schools aid Mumias needy

Mumias, Kenya - Over 200 needy people in Mumias have benefited from a donation from Kabarak learning institutions.

The donation from Kabarak Primary School, Kabarak High School, Sacho High School and Kabarak University was part of the institutions' Annual Mission Outreach to preach and meet social needs.

The institutions' outreach programme was started in 1991 by former President Daniel Moi to reach society's needy with the word of God and basic commodities.

The seven-day outreach programme saw families receive maize, beans and household goods.

Speaking as he handed over donations to the needy, who included Turkana people living the area, Kabarak High School Chaplain Paul Ombati asked Kenyans to share what they had with those in need.

"This annual outreach was started by the former President who had a vision of touching the needy. Because he could not reach everywhere, he asked other leaders and well-wishers to support the initiative," said Dr Ombati.

He asked the Mumias community to donate land for the building of churches.

Kabarak University representative Jacob Kibor stressed the importance of ethnic diversity in learning institutions.
