Mexican wrestling star dies after in-ring Accident

Mexican wrestler Perro Aguayo Jr, has died at the age of 35 after an in-ring accident in a match on Saturday in Tijuana, Mexico.

Aguayo went limp on the ropes after a blow that appeared to have hit his neck by Oscar Gutierrez, known as Rey Misterio, Jr, a former WWE performer making his return to Mexican wrestling. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to reports.

Mysterio and the other participants in the match continued briefly, with Aguayo's partner, apparently unaware of the seriousness of the situation, pulling him out of the way of the action.

He was taken to a hospital a block away and died about 1:30 a.m., according to prosecutor's spokesman Raul Gutierrez. The state prosecutor's office said it has opened an investigation into possible manslaughter, AP reports.

Sources at the Hospital have said that the initial cause of death was cervical spine trauma coming from when the ropes snapped his neck.

Aguayo was a second generation luchador; his father was the original Perro Aguayo. While not the same circumstances, the death is very eerily similar to that of Mitsuharu Misawa in the ring in Japan in 2009.
