A woman had to pay Sh10,000 bail for failing to show up in court on February 5.
The 34-year-old woman had earlier been accused of stealing a mobile phone valued at Sh3,000 from her boyfriend.
She was however released after paying Sh2,000 police bond.
Nyambura Ndegwa however failed to show up in court to answer the theft charges, prompting the court to issue a warrant of arrest.
The accused, who was charged with disobeying lawful order, however claimed to have lost her voice on the material day and could not make an appearance in court.
On the theft charge, the prosecution said the accused had asked the complainant, who lives on the same plot as her, for his mobile phone to make call. But she allegedly did not return the phone.
“It is true that I stole his phone, but on the day I was to show up in court, I lost my voice and figured that it would serve no purpose to come to court since I would not be able to talk,” Nyambura pleaded with the court.
The matter will be mentioned on March 12.
