Members of Utheri vow to settle on their Mai Mahiu land

NAROK: Members of the Utheri wa Lari land buying company have asked the Government to provide them with enough security since they want to settle in their land at Kendong, Narok county.

Chairman Stephen Muiru, who spoke at the burial of Peter Kibunja who was killed on Saturday during a tour of the farm, said members are keen to settle in the land acquired through hard sacrifice.

"We want the Government to build a police station there so that our members can settle in their plots, which were subdivided in 1996," he said.

Muiru said although a few individuals have been inciting people in Kedong to attack them every time they tour the farm, this will not stop them from settling in their land.

SEVEN DAYS

Also speaking at the funeral, Senator Kimani Wamatangi said those behind the killings which occurred at the farm last week must be apprehended and charged in court.

"I have given law enforcers seven days to arrest and prosecute the killers since they are not strangers," he said.

The senator asked the Government to ensure no one dies due to land related issues saying the Constitution allows every Kenyan to own land and settle anywhere in the country.
