The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has come out strongly to refute allegations made by a section of the local press (not the Standard) that  there was disagreement on the union's position to call off the national teachers strike last Friday.

The union claims that the unfortunate story was maliciously sourced with an intention of creating an imaginary division in the union.

KNUT Secretary-General Wilson Sossion confirmed in a press release that all members of the KNUT National Executive Council were unanimous that the strike be called off.

Sossion said that this would give the ongoing judicial process a chance to resolve the outstanding issues raised by various interested parties in the teachers’ strike.

He has advised member teachers to report to school tomorrow Monday January 19, 2015 in the morning as they  follow up on the progress of the judicial intervention being undertaken.

The 12-day strike was called off after the industrial court took charge to mediate between KNUT and the government .
