13-year-old boy struck dead by lightning

A 13-year-old-boy was yesterday struck dead by lightning on his way home from herding cattle.

The Class Six pupil at Olmekenyu Primary School was struck as he drove his family's cattle home.

Narok South OCPD Philip Kipkurui said the boy died on the spot.

"We are told that the area is prone to lightning and there have been several strikes there," said the OCPD.

The body was taken to Longisa hospital mortuary.

"We are asking residents not to shelter under trees or walk in the rain. Children should also not play in the rain," said Mr Kipkurui.
