Traders protest over market eyesore

Traders in Karuri market are up in arms against the county government over the state of their current location after they were removed to pave way for renovation of the old market.

The market under rehabilitation by the former Nairobi Metropolitan Ministry stalled midway.

The traders have complained of rampant theft since their present site is not fenced and borders a bush.

Karuri Ward Rep Martin Njoroge had warned that the traders may be forced to come back to the market under construction.

"We have no choice but to carry our goods and start operating from the old market," said Ann Njeri, a trader in Banana.
