Police arrest man, recover firearm

Police in Cheptais Sub-County yesterday arrested a man and recovered a homemade gun and bullets.

The suspect Benard Kiboi was arrested in Kipsigon Market in Kopsiro division by police officers after a tip off from the public.

Cheptais OCPD Ezekiel Kiche said the suspect is in police custody and will be charged with illegal possession of the weapon.

He said investigations are under way to arrest his accomplices.

“I am calling on members of the public to volunteer more information that will help us arrest people still illegally holding the firearms and this will reduce the fear among them,” he said.

Illegal firearms find their way to the area through the porous border. Police appealed to the public to surrender illegal firearms to end insecurity.
