KCB face Nakuru as Machine entertain Quins

Rugby enthusiasts are in a for a weekend of thrills as the Impala Floodlit tournament enters the semi-final stage this weekend at the Impala Club with six matches on the card.
Defending champions KCB face back to back Kenya Cup champions Nakuru RFC in what is expected to be an explosive match at 7.30 pm.
The two sides reached the semi-final in contrasting fashion. KCB rallied from a 0-11 half time deficit against hosts Impala Saracens, posting a narrow 25-19 result that set up the date against a side they have not beaten since the 2011/2012 league season and while this may be a pre-season fixture, there is the small issue of pride to play for and of course the bigger issue of reaching the Floodies final.
The Bankers have been boosted by the return of Andrew Amonde (captain), Fabian Olando, Jacob Ojee and Oliver Mang’eni who were with the Kenya Sevens team in Gold Coast, Australia for the opening round of the 2014/2015 HSBC Sevens World Series last weekend.
In the absence of injured duo of Olando and Philip Wamae, former Kenyan international scrum half Felix Wanjala who was impressive at the quarters is expected to guide youthful Billy Isabwa, Marlin Mukolwe, Brian Sagara and Curtis Lilako against the Wanyore.
But just like KCB, Nakuru will also have to do without the services of suspended Coleman Were. However, with a perfect blend of youth and experience at his disposal, coach Dominique Habimana will bank on Mike Okombe, Allan Odiyo, Kelvin Omiyo and David Kivuti to continue their dominance over the bankers.
In the first Main Cup semis, Floodies specialists University Of Nairobi’s Mean Machine take on Quins at 6pm.
Mean Machine reached the semis with an 11-3 win over Nondies, while Quins thrashed Mwamba 30-13.
But having been the most successful team at the tournament after bagging nine titles, the Paul Okech’s boys are aware of the task that lies ahead of them as they seek their tenth title.
Quins will rely on the experience of Patrice Agunda and Dennis Muhanji as well as enterprising Kevin Keegan and William Mawira to inspire them against the unpredictable Mean Machine.
In the University category, 2012 champions United States International University entertains Catholic University Monks in the first match of the day (11.30 am) before paving way for the clash between reigning champions Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture at 3.30pm.
Schools’ defending champions Ofafa Jericho, who mauled Moi Forces Academy 27-6 in the quarters, lock horns with Makini as Laiser Hill battle with Alliance.
