We must do more to stop hunger, says WFP

The fight against hunger in the world is still far from being won, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director Ertharin Cousin has said.

However, Mr Cousin said the organisation in collaboration with other humanitarian agencies and governments is stepping up efforts to eliminate the threat.

In his remarks during an event to mark the World Food Day, Cousin said the fortunes of future generations were dependent on present efforts to eliminate hunger and create a better world for humanity.

“Despite horrific crises engulfing the region, we are making real progress in the fight to sustainably and durably end hunger and chronic malnutrition,” he said.

Apart from Kenya, other countries in the region such as South Sudan have been on the hunger watch list.
