Kamwaro On Matatu Sacco

Over 500 matatu savings and credit co-operative societies had been registered ahead of the deadline, close of business Tuesday, 15th February. Transport licensing board chairman Hassan Ole Kamwaro says that no more saccos will be registered, and those operators who are yet to join a sacco will have to align themselves to a registered one. The requirement is part of reforms proposed FPR the matatu industry last year that should see all 14 seaters phased out to pave way for bus companies operated by the saccos.
