Home Club’s Gurbux Singh said goodbye to 2016 in style after posting a sterling score of 70 nett to emerge the overall winner of the final 2016 club nite golf tournament played at the par 71 Nyali golf and country club course in Mombasa County over the weekend.

Playing off handicap 4, Singh’s victory started off on a high note, sinking two rare birdies in the fore nines at the par five-first hole and the par four-seventh hole.

He levelled a total of eleven pars and played mixed bogey shots on the rest of the nines to claim the last final trophy.

“I have closed the year on a good note and looking forward to a much better golfing year 2017,”said Singh.
Club-mate Taib Bajaber, playing off handicap 4, was the runner-up on 72 nett, beating club-mate handicap 13 Florence Karimi to the third slot by a stroke difference.

There were mixed results for the 2016 End year competitions played at various clubs in the country, with the Par 71 Muthaiga Course having its home Club’s handicap 24 emerging the overall winner on 38 points while club mates handicap 8 James Ondingo on 37 points and handicap 2 Evans Vitisia on 36 points were the runner-up and third placed respectively.

Nakuru’s Handicap 28 Trevor Hungi on 28 was the winner of the same event on 43 points played at the par 73 Nakuru course.

Home club’s handicap 14 Thomas Chege was the runner-up on 41 points and taking the third slot on 39 points was handicap 15 Hillary Korir, also from Nakuru.

At the par 72 Ruiru course, the event was won by home club’s handicap 15 John Githunguri on a count-back score of 70 nett.

He tied with club-mate handicap 28 Maina Wachira who was the runners-up and taking the third slot was handicap 19 Thomas Mwaura also from the same who had a score of 71 nett.

At the par 72 Thika Sports home clubs handicap 17 Julius Kibe won on a count-back score of 4 points.
