Van Gaal "doesn't know" where Di Maria is after defeat

Louis Van Gaal claimed he “does not know” where Angel Di Maria is after Paris St Germain claimed they were close to securing a deal for the Manchester United winger.

Di Maria failed to join up with the United squad in San Jose for the last leg of their US tour, having been given an extended break following his involvement in the Copa America with Argentina.

PSG boss Laurent Blanc, whose side beat United 2-0 in Chicago, claimed the French champions were “close to the end” of their negotiations with the Reds over Di Maria.

But van Gaal refused to be drawn on the seemingly imminent £46million deal that will end Di Maria’s ultimately unsuccessful season-long stint with United.

When asked the latest situation on Di Maria, van Gaal said: “You can ask that every week.”
