David de Gea confirms he will be returning to United to undertake pre-season training

David De Gea has confirmed he will return to Manchester United for pre-season training on Monday.

De Gea, 24, remains determined to join Real Madrid but United want £33million for the two-time Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year, report the Manchester Evening News.

Sergio Ramos' desire to join United has further complicated the De Gea saga with United determined to link the deals, whereas Real would prefer to negotiate them separately.

And United's hardball stance has left De Gea with no choice but to return to Carrington on Monday morning.

“Real Madrid? I have to return to Manchester for pre-season,” De Gea told Cuatro on Sunday.

The Spain goalkeeper added he was 'calm' about his situation as he braces himself to come face-to-face with Louis van Gaal again.

During a bizarre phone call last week, Van Gaal told a Spanish journalist he was 'angry' about the De Gea situation and United feel their No.1 has been unsettled by reports emerging from Madrid over the last six months.

Although the De Gea saga could drag on into United's pre-season, the Cheshire house he has been renting is up for sale.

United recognise the huge value of De Gea after a string of superb performances last season helped The Reds return to the Premier League top four.

However, the club is prepared to let him leave on a free when his contract expires next year if Real fail to offer the world record fee for a goalkeeper.
