Time does not wait for us

Tick tock tick tock, the hands of the clock go round and round, to help us tell the time. Then at the stroke of the hour, the clock will chime to warn all and sundry that time is moving on and continues to travel.

Time is something that fascinates me and continues to fascinate me.

It does not matter whether your watch or clock is working, or whether its face is big and bright or vice versa: time will still move and soon it will be day break or sunset.

The concept of time, so abstract yet so controlling, is something that we all have in equal measure though some of us seem to have less of it in our hands than others, while some seem to have better use of it.

There are those who while away their minutes and hours and days pass on.

With the passage of time I now know that time is indeed money.

I felt the bitter truth when I had to pay more whileI was clearing with several departments at the university to pave way for my graduation because I had delayed in making some payments.

I felt it when the long arm of the law caught up with me and I had to start paying for my university loan.

By then the interest had increased many times over, and I continue to feel the pain of my ignorance.

I see elderly men and women struggle in their sunset years simply because they did not use their time wisely. Now that they are older, they realise that they must have done some miscalculation and that after all, they do not have all the time in the world yet they have to spend to live comfortably.

Where did all the time go?

We will ask at one point in our lives, when we see that the children are all grown; when we see that we have done such minimal work; when we realise that we are less of the person and are living less of the life we wanted back then.

The thing is that time is like a river — you cannot touch the same water twice because the water that has flowed past you will never return.

You can only relieve similar moments, and perhaps touch the same river that now holds different waters, of course at a different time.

There must be a reason why time is divided into seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades and centuries.

The reason must be to enable man to make sense of it and use it wisely.

To plan when to do nothing and even play, and to plan when to work to make the world a better place.

I guess it is time for me to stop writing this article and move on to something else since the hands of the clock have since moved on.
