Arsenal superfan demands removal of Fabregas banner at Emirates

Angry Arsenal superfan Claude Callegari has demanded the removal of a Cesc Fabregas banner from the Emirates Stadium ahead of the midfielder’s return with Chelsea this weekend.

Fabregas, who signed for the Premier League leaders in the summer, will be making his first appearance at the home of the Gunners since he left to re-join Barcelona in the summer of 2011.

The 27-year-old has already claimed one trophy with the Blues after lifting the Capital One Cup and will be within touching distance of making it a double with victory over his old club on Sunday.

Arsene Wenger’s side never topped the pile domestically during Fabregas’ first spell in England, although they did win the FA Cup, something he is hoping to put right with the Blues next week.

His picture is still proudly displayed alongside other Arsenal legends like Dennis Bergkamp and Tony Adams but has sparked fury among some sections of the club’s support.

Callegari, who has become an internet sensation for his rants on Arsenal Fan TV, has now told the club to remove the tribute to the former Gunner from the north London venue.

He said of the banner: “I want to know why that is still on the bridge.

“He kissed the Chelsea badge when they lifted the cup last month. Why is that still on our bridge?

“It’s a disgrace. Take that down.”

Fabregas spent eight years at Arsenal after arriving as a teenager from his native Spain and grew into one of Europe’s top players.

Chelsea will be crowned champions should they win against Arsenal and manage to beat relegation-haunted Leicester City on Wednesday night.

Fabregas added: "We just want to win it. The sooner, the better.

"We want to give satisfaction to the supporters. It's been five years for them without winning the Premier League title; for me it's been 27 years so I'd love to win it as soon as possible."
