NAIROBI, KENYA: Two police officers have been shot and wounded by thugs in a mid-morning shootout along Mbagathi Highway, Nairobi.
The mid-morning shoot out also saw the officers killing two thugs and recovering a pistol of Ceska type . The wounded officers have been admitted at a Nairobi hospital.
Police say the gang was part of a four man gang that was headed for a robbery mission when police who were in their trail intercepted.
According to Nairobi deputy police boss Moses Ombati, the other accomplices have escaped in a Mercedes Benz car and a hunt is ongoing. He added that the pistol had eight bullets and that the injured officers are in a stable condition. "Major police units have been mobilized to hunt down the gang on the run," he said
