Man stabs wife, commit suicide

A 52 year old man has committed suicide after he stabbed his wife with a panga following a domestic row.

The wife has since been admitted to Ndindika health center in Laikipia west in critical condition following the incident which occurred at noon on Tuesday.

The incident caused shock at Matwiku village after the man went berserk after hours of quarreling with his third wife before committing the crime.

The man suspected that his third wife had an affair with another man and that was the basis of their argument.

According to Ngarua DO Rufus Kihara, the man picked a panga and slashed the wife on her head and hands before leaving her for the dead.

“They had been involved in an argument for the entire Tuesday morning and that was when the man got angry and picked a panga which he used to stab the wife with.He thought that the woman had died and that was when he escaped,” he said.

Kihara noted that the man rushed to a nearby 30 feet well where he drowned himself.

“Neighbours who rushed to the scene found the man already dead as the well was full with water,” he said.

Kihara said that the woman is still in critical condition and it was likely that she would be transferred to Nyahururu district hospital.

The body of the deceased was moved to Nyahururu district hospital mortuary.
