TNA extends nominations to Friday

The National Alliance (TNA) has pushed the nomination exercise in some parts of the country to Friday.

Officials of the Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta led party said they were forced to postpone the exercise because they received the IEBC voter registers late.

Chairman Johnson Sakaja however maintained that the nominations will go on in regions that have received all voting materials.

“We received the IEBC register at 3pm yesterday (Wednesday). We had to clean the register and marry it to the list of registered TNA members,” explained Sakaja at a press conference held in Nairobi.

The TNA chairman assured aspirants and party members that they will conclude the process by noon on Friday and hand over the list of winners to IEBC as required by the law.

He said they had to take the decision to ensure that the process remained fair, transparent and forestall possible fallout within the party.

Nominations for the TNA party in most parts of the country did not start due to delay in delivery of voting materials.
