Police intercepted heroin and cocaine worth Sh11.3 million in Lunga Lunga, at the Kenya-Tanzania border.

The drugs which included 939 grams of cocaine and 166 grams of heroin were nabbed in a Mombasa bound bus at the international border crossing point.

Police arrested three passengers whom witnesses say are the vehicle’s driver, conductor and loader.

Officials disclosed the bus arrived at the border point from Tanzania on Thursday shortly after 2am.

According to Msambweni Administration Police Commander Wilson Gichuhi, the consignment of drugs was found inside the bus next to where the conductor was seated.

Coast PPO Aggrey Adoli said the heroine is worth Sh3.3 million while the cocaine is valued at Sh8 million

The suspect, a Kenya and two Tanzanians will be charged for narcotics possession in Mombasa on Friday.

Police also impounded the bus and it is parked at the Lunga Lunga police station but the drugs were taken to Mombasa for analysis.

The Lunga Lunga border has been used by drug traffickers to traffic in drugs in the country.

Police had been forced to deploy enough security agents within the border to keep off drugs and other smuggled goods into the country.

Early this year, police and Kenya Revenue Authority have arrested a man with Sh15 million cocaine haul at the border.

The one kilogram cocaine was recovered from a 42-year-old Tanzanian national at the Kenyan border as he was trying to cross to the country.
