NYANDARUA, KENYA: Kinangop Member of Parliament David Ngugi has officially kicked off his campaigns to contest for governor of Nyandarua County on The National Alliance (TNA) party ticket.

While addressing a meeting in Mairo-Inya trading centre in Ndaragwa constituency on Wednesday, the MP said he had the passion and commitment to lead the agriculture-rich county and make it a model to be emulated by other regions.

While acknowledging the myriad of challenges that face the county, Ngugi said they could however be overcome with good and all-inclusive leadership.

He cited the developments he had initiated with the Constituency Development Fund ranging from construction of schools, provision of clean water and electricity and opening of a food processing plant in Njabini in his Kinangop constituency as an example of how good leadership can solve people’s problems.

The MP is now set to battle it out with his predecessor Waithaka Mwangi, among other contestants.
