Football administrators have praised SuperSport for giving them an opportunity to improve their administration skills through an intensive training program hosted by Strathmore in collaboration with South Africa’s Wits University.

Ulinzi secretary general Joe Birgen who is one of the participants said the four- month course is of immense benefit and will improve how they run their clubs.

A total of eight officials from Kenyan Premier League (KPL) are attending the course at Strathmore University.

“The course has come at the right time as it gives us what we need to become skilled and better administrators. It equips us with the necessary expertise and from now on our approach will be more professional,” he said.

Rangers assistant coach Ben Bella said the course has given him deep insight into management matters with intensive lessons which cover all aspects of sports management.

“The focus of the course is on nine key areas and gives one deep insight on every aspect of sports management,” he pointed out.

Apart from football administrators the course is also being attended by sports administrators from various African countries among them Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya.

Ikana Mbora, a sports officer from the Nigeria Sports Commission said the course is doing a lot to equip them with required skills to manage the various disciplines.

“There are two officials from the Nigeria Premier League also attending this course and we are confident that when they go back home, we will experience a major difference in management of the sport,” she said. Supersport’s Farida Limo said they will ensure implementation of what has been learnt through follow up.

“The initiative is designed specifically to improve knowledge and further indications of SuperSport’s broad commitment to East Africa,” she said.

The Certificate Programme, is hosted at Strathmore University and is divided into four blocks of study from August to November with the graduation ceremony in December.
