Thirteen youthful MPs who were allied to Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi’s UDF have since decamped from the party.

Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando who was among the founding members of UDF said on Saturday the party’s agenda got mixed up, raising credibility issues.

“Sixteen mostly youthful MPs were actively engaged at nascent stage, 13 of whom aren’t currently. I presume UDF agenda got mixed up, raising credibility issues. Many of us felt unsafe with unfolding drama,’’ said Kabando.

He added: “Politicians trust known or predictable routes. Not conspiracies. TNA is obviously a national party. It’s a national alliance. TNA is predictable. TNA has stimulating magnetism. TNA has refreshing aura.”

Besides Members of Parliament, others who defected from UDF include Mr Ben Mulwa who had expressed interest to vie for presidency on UDF ticket.

MPs from Mt Kenya region who are still supporting Mudavadi include Laikipia West MP Nderitu Muriithi and his Ndaragwa counterpart Jeremiah Kioni.

Nominated MP George Nyamweya denied claims that he had defected from the party saying: “I am firmly in UDF, it’s unfortunate that when Mudavadi and I were meeting Kenyans in Diaspora, some other people were busy giving funny stories about me.”
