Palaver

So Arsenal are about to lose another star player? Robin Van Persie, a player nurtured by Arsene Wenger has refused to sign a new contract. At 29, one can understand his angst at the trophy drought being experienced by his club. Wenger has been good at buying promising players on the cheap and turning them into stars, but the dynamics of the EPL have changed so much that clubs have to spend big to win the league. Don’t be surprised if Arsenal finish fourth or fifth at the end of the new season given the huge spending by heavy hitters Manchester City, Man United and Chelsea. Wenger should cash in on RVP now and buy a marquee replacement.

Why on earth the National Intelligence Service is preoccupied with the cash some presidential aspirants are splurging on campaign rallies beats Palaver. Unless it is cash from illegal dealings the aspirants should be allowed to waste their money given that most of them won’t even make it past the first post to the inevitable run-off anyway. What they should be investigating is whether drug money is involved. Otherwise, as long as they are not contributing to Harambees of financing private militia or banned groups, leave them in peace!!

The International Criminal Court is 10 years old and the new ICC prosecutor is pursuing a different style from her abrasive predecessor who loves the cameras. Rather than shoot off her mouth to the media every now and then, she prefers to do her homework quietly and use the ICC Registry to make filings. It is certainly a more professional way of operating and leaves defence counsel and media alike guessing and trying to figure out her next move.

If Gor Mahia is indeed a “lifestyle” as the club’s followers claim then what is AFC Leopards? Both clubs are followed everywhere by well endowed members of the opposite sex who are loud, risque,  gulp alcohol by the gallon and are not averse to dropping four letter words.

And finally...

Something is just not right about Usain Bolt’s sudden drop in form and Yohan Blake’s victories. Remember the short-lived Justin Gatlin?
