Lorry bursts into flames, killing five in Webuye [Photos]

Five people were killed in the accident on the Webuye-Eldoret road.

Five people have been killed in an accident that involved several vehicles that hit a transformer.

During the accident, the lorry rammed into a probox and burst into flames.

The majority of the victims were burnt beyond recognition.

Other vehicles involved in the crash were a small fuel tanker and a Nissan matatu.

Rescue teams are at the scene in Mukhonje centre on the Webuye-Eldoret road. 

Some of the nearby buildings were also set ablaze during the incident.

At the time of publishing this story, more people were still trapped in the wreckage. Those whose bodies were removed were burnt beyond recognition.

Police are at the scene but are yet to issue an official statement.
