Resurgent women’s 1,500m Olympic champion, Nancy Jebet Lagat registered yet another impressive victory, a second on the international circuit during FBK Games meet in Hengelo marred by driving rain and wind.

Fellow Beijing 2008 gold medallist compatriots, Brimin Kipruto (men 3,000m steeplechase) and Pamela Jelimo (women 800m) paled in their events with the latter posting the Did Not Finish result.

Osaka 2007 women 800m World champion and last year’s Berlin silver medallist, Janeth Jepkosgei, who is in top form, registered a second victory of the season at the same meet as Kenyans occupied the first four positions in the men’s 3,000m race.

Olympic champion Jebet Lagat, the winner in Shanghai Diamond League meeting, continued her strong early season with a convincing victory in 4:02:09, beating American Christine Wurth-Thomas (4:04.88). Compatriot Irene Jelagat (4:06.45) was third with World champion Maryam Jamal of Bahrain continued to struggle, finishing a disappointing ninth here in 4:10:53.

In the women’s two-lap race, Jepkosgei who triumphed at Doha Diamond League meeting chalked a 2:02.03 victory with Slovak Lucia Klocov· (2:02.88) and Briton Jemma Simpson (2:02.88) filling the rostrum.
