U-wake, hi-tech bio-monitor device that keeps you alert when driving

By Jerry Odumbe | January 14th 2015

Falling asleep while driving accounts for a big proportion of vehicle accidents that occur today. But a new hi-tech, bio-monitor can now solve this problem by analysing your brainwave activity and detecting fatigue levels as you drive.

The novel invention is a wearable headband known as U-wake. U-wake captures brainwave data and relays it to its companion U-wake smartphone app via Bluetooth technology, where the brainwave data is analysed. The app sets off an alarm on the phone and the data results are displayed on the app, providing drivers with their fatigue score on a scale that ranges from 0 to 100. Creators of the device say that a score of 80 and above indicates that the fatigue levels are too high and the driver is not suitable to operate a motor vehicle.
